House Moving 280210
I have been living at Spottiswoode Apartments @ Spottiswoode Park Road all my life. We started out on the 8th floor, before moving up to the 21st, when I was in Primary school.
We had to move out due to an en-bloc sale (which we fought against and lost). Prior to the en-bloc sale, Spottiswoode Apartments used to be a nice place to live in. The building was old but clean. The people living there were friendly and even helped to put out a fire.
After the en-bloc sale, many families moved out. The empty apartments were then rented out by the management. Foreigners such as KTV hostesses moved in. Things started to get fucked up from then on. These KTV hostesses would stink up the lift with their leave-on conditioner and strut around in their skimpy little dresses. Residents had a few confrontations with these rascals over “cab-snatching” incidents. These part-time prostitutes would bring men back to their little whorehouses, get drunk and cause a lot of trouble for the security guard. The blue-collar foreigners, living below us, stole shopping carts and hung their clothing all over the corridor ledges. Bicycles were strewn all over the lobby and along the corridors. They started having “midnight picnics” at the playground. Spottiswoode Apartments became a horrible place to live in.
We started to pack up and move out before the 010310 deadline. Changi Rise @ Simei Rise was our next destination. We had it rented out since it was built in 2004. There was no way we could move everything there, as Changi Rise was already fully furnished. We ended up throwing and giving away a lot of stuff. Dad was the most emotionally affected as he gave away all his discus fish and tanks (his 13-year hobby).

A few more bulky items to go.
