Adidas Sundown Marathon 2009
Post-race. Jessie and I.
Jessie and I completed our first marathon. Unfortunately the Adidas Sundown Marathon wasn’t forgiving to beginners like us. There were a lot of slopes along the way.
Nevertheless, it was a great feeling running through the 42km mark holding Jessie’s hand.
We met up with fellow blogger and seasoned marathoner, Timothy, prior to the race. At Bedok Reservoir, I bumped into my ex-army mate, Jia Guang, who was also running. At Tampines, I bumped into another ex-army mate, Yuan Shyuan, who was one of the volunteers for the race.
Shortly before the 30km mark, Jessie told me to look at my fingers. Gosh! Both our fingers were swollen and I don’t exactly know why. I still managed to lock (but couldn’t close) my fingers around Jessie’s and pull her up the overhead bridges. We kept each other awake throughout the night simply by talking and sharing jokes with one another. The best part was running with Jessie through the remaining 1.5km. She gave 101% effort and I’m really proud of her, especially when the longest distance she ran was 10km.
On the recovery side, I didn’t clock sufficient mileage prior to the event and ended up aggravating my old injury (bilateral Osgood-Schlatter disease). I only felt the damage after the race.
I guess I’ll stick to shorter races and only attempt marathons once a year. Sad to say, I lack the commitment for a marathon. I can only find time for a long distance run once a week, while skate training and gym eats into the remaining 6 days… without even a single day left for recovery.

Dad was washing his car at the basement carpark a few nights ago. He left an empty pail unattended for a moment, then came back again to find a 10cm long red centipede crawling into the bucket. Dad managed to get the centipede out, but it escaped into the drain even before he could kill it.
I have personally found a dead baby centipede lying around the carpark almost a month ago, but it really didn’t bother me much. Until dad told me about the huge centipede, did I start to worry about a whole colony of centipedes hiding in the basement carpark.
The basement carpark isn’t very well lit and there’s a high risk of getting bitten by one of these nasty creatures. I haven’t washed my car for almost a week and there’s bird shit all over. Management said they would get a pest control agency to look into the problem, but so far nothing has been done.
I think I’ll probably have to get some centipede baits myself. Any recommendations?
Eggsplosion 260509
The pot.
I left 3 eggs to boil in a pot of water on the stove and went into the room to do my work.
3 hours later, I heard very loud popping noises coming from the dining room and went out to check. There were fragments of egg whites, yolks and shells scattered everywhere. My two dogs were hiding under the chairs. I rushed into the kitchen and turned off the stove. The explosion sent egg fragments flying out to as far as 3 metres away from the stove, into my dining room.
The dining room and the kitchen are in a huge mess right now.
I’ll never leave my cooking unattended again.

Schankel Legend
Schankel Legend boot, Millennium frame, 4 X 100mm Gyro Marathon 85A wheels.
Bought this complete setup from Jun Wee a while ago.
Half size smaller than my previous boots. It fits nicely and will last me for a long long time.

Angels and Demons is worth the movie ticket, even though the storyline differs from the book towards the end.
I had two Korean friends who visited Singapore last week. They told me that in Korea, plastic surgery comes in 1+1 packages. For example, you could pay for a nose job and get an eye job free.

Coffee 070509
Nespresso Krups machine.
Gabriel bought a Nespresso Krups coffee capsule machine and invited all of us over to his place @ Sennett Lane for coffee.
Jessie and I.
We had a huge variety of coffee to choose from. All we had to do was to pop the coffee capsule into the machine and wait for our coffee to be ready.
Clarisse.
Clarisse, our barista for the day, helped prepare all the coffee and topped them up with milk froth.
Delicious!

Ridiculous shot. Norm Duke purposely knocks down only 9 pins and gets a slow moving spinning ball to hit the other. Amazing!
Hi All, I Am Dexter
Dear Human,
Saying hello!
My name is Dexter. I’m a West Highland White Terrier.
I was born on 12 Dec 2008. On 26 Apr 2008, Jessie and Chris came to Pet Safari @ Vivocity requesting to hold me while I still inside the display cabinet.
Chris carried me, while Jessie smelled my ear.
They gave me back to the sales assistant.
I never saw them till the next day. A huge group of people, comprising of Chris’s family, Jessie and her mum, came down to Pet Safari. They filled in some documents and Jessie brought me back.
Me carrying Dexter.
I’m currently slacking at home, getting used to the environment. They were telling me that a week after my 4th injection, due this week, I’ll be able to meet Carlos and Gabbie.
I’m looking forward to that day.
With love,
Dexter
