The first running event in my calendar, Newton Active Run, will be held tomorrow morning in Sengkang.

I’m going to get wasted on vodka shots right now so that I can sleep early.

Good night.

Carlos Has Thunderstorm Phobia

Hmm… that doesn’t look edible.

The world is coming to an end!

Waiting for the thunderstorm to subside.

Dogs with mild noise phobia may look anxious during thunderstorms, tremble, hide under the bed or in the bathtub, and be afraid to go out of doors for hours after the storm has passed. If your dog suffers mildly, the best you can do is train him to go to a certain place in the house where he feels comfortable; some dogs like to go into an open crate, some like the bathtub or shower. If your dog heads to a certain spot and seems calmer, reward him. Severely afflicted pets may soil in the house, destroy furniture, attempt to break through walls or crash through windows, often hurting themselves in frantic efforts to flee the source of their fear.

Carlos didn’t attempt to break through walls like The Incredible Hulk.

Michelle, my sister, caught Carlos hiding in a small space beneath the kitchen cupboard during a thunderstorm. He sought refuge among packets of instant noodles, biscuits and dried food.

Investigations are continuing into what caused a Turkish Airlines plane to crash at Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport, killing nine people and injuring 86. The plane, en route from Istanbul with 127 passengers and seven crew, crashed short of the runway on Wednesday.

Source : BBC News.

Calls were coming in yesterday, asking if mum was on that flight. We couldn’t contact her. We didn’t know which flight she was taking. All we knew was that she would be arriving in Amsterdam on Wednesday.

This morning, she texted to let us know that she is safe and sound.

Jessie and her mum bought my dad a Lanvin tie pin.

Dad celebrated his 57th birthday last Saturday (210209) at Himawari Japanese Restaurant @ Neil Road. Just a simple a la carte buffet dinner which we planned for him. Mum got him a new electric shaver. Jessie and her mum bought him a Lanvin tie pin.

Weather Forecasts

leave a comment »

Weather forecasts give us a false sense of hope.

You confidently skate as far as you can on a bright sunny day. All of a sudden, it rains. Wheels lose grip on the wet road. You make your way towards the nearest shelter.

You are totally drenched.

You are stuck in that little shelter for almost an hour.

You have no handphone or money with you.

You are 15km away from the car.

The thought of spending 45 minutes to dry and oil those wet bearings is sickening.

Even when the rain stops, there are wet roads, debris and slippery pedestrian crossings to worry about.

And you wished you had never trusted the weather forecast.

Driving Without Insurance Coverage

The New Paper article 210209.

Drink driving, driving without licence, driving without insurance coverage, and driving whilst under disqualification are considered serious violation cases. Hence, if a motorist suspects that the other party in the traffic accident has committed one of these offences, he/she should call Police immediately to report the matter.

This is the real reason why I’ll never lend anyone my car. Neither would I drive anyone’s car.

Mum is going away tonight, for 5 weeks, for a training stint in Amsterdam. She will stopover at London for 3 days before heading to Amsterdam.

The items among her luggage consist of a tin of Milo and cans of Ayam Brand Tuna.

Why Milo and tuna, you so politely ask? Because my crazy-fuck cousin in London misses the Singapore Milo and Ayam-fucking-brand-fucking-tuna so much that she told her mum (my aunt) to get my mum to bring some over.

You won’t even be there at the airport to pick her up, and you expect my mum to deliver it to your place?

Seriously, fuck you. Pampered fuck.

ID Band.

ID Band.

Got my ID Band yesterday.

Type “ET02” (without quotes) when prompted for a promo code during check-out (as seen on their Facebook group messages). Not sure how much discount there is because I bought it after I joined the group.

Totally eliminates the need to carry ID around when exercising. Hopefully one day, it’ll save my life.

My aunt has always been a high-flyer at work, back in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She brought home a huge paycheck every month, and the company (a reputable one) provided her with a brand new Mercedes, a driver and even housing allowance.

Recently, she was instructed by her superior to alter the accounts, so that the company could pay less tax to the government. She decided not to and therefore tendered her resignation.

It isn’t worth spending a few years in jail for all that money and I applaud her decision to leave.

Two Cans Of Gin Tonic

with 3 comments

Bombay Sapphire Gin.

Bombay Sapphire Gin.

A few nights ago, I was thinking about Gin Tonic so much that I walked into an Indian convenience store…

Me : Uncle, where can I find two cans of Gin Tonic?

Uncle : It’s over there, in the fridge.

*Uncle gets up from his chair, walks to the fridge, takes two cans of F&N Tonic Water.*

Uncle : This one, am I right?

Me : Yes. Thank you.

Uncle : This one is tonic water. Gin, you have to add yourself.

And we both burst out laughing!

Valentines 2009

Valentines 2009 : Jessie and I.

Just swinging her around!

While most couples were enjoying the Valentine’s Day dinner at some posh restaurant, Jessie and I were running around doing some serious shopping.

We had dinner at Breeks @ Changi Airport before heading down to Tampines Mall. There we played a simple game.

The rules were simple :

1) The cumulative amounts of all gifts should be as close to $26.03 as possible (26/03/06 was the day we both got together).

2) We would spend one hour shopping at our designated shopping mall before heading to the meeting point.

3) The person who spends the closest to $26.03 wins!

We drew lots in the car…

Valentines 2009 : I got Century Square.

At the end of one hour, we got each other the following items :

Valentines 2009 : Jessie gave me a shoe-bag and a pouch!

Jessie got me a shoe-bag and a pouch for $27.00.

Valentines 2009 : Jessie and her present.

I got Jessie two packets of Ferrero Roche, four coasters and a laptop mouse for $25.77.

I won!

Yesterday I gave Jessie her Valentine’s day present, together with 10 stalks of her favourite purple tulips. I made a cross stitch for her (which took about 3 weeks, on and off stitching), and on the card I wrote…

Every stitch I do, I do it for you.

Valentines 2009 : Jessie's bouquet of tulips, card and cross-stitch.

Jessie’s bouquet of tulips, card and cross-stitch.

Jessie was so touched that she burst out crying. Great success! It took me a long time to learn the basics of stitching and when she told me that she liked it a lot, I felt really happy.

Valentines 2009 : Jessie gave me a Cerruti belt.

Jessie gave me a Cerruti 1881 belt.

Jessie, in return, got me a Cerruti belt cut to my size! A decent belt is probably the only thing I need right now. Thank you so much my dear.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Removing Old Car Stickers

with 3 comments

I hope this post will help those with old car stickers to remove.

I decided to remove the Honda Civic sticker on my boot.

My old Civic 1.5M.

See that sticker under the Honda logo?

I had already removed all the other stickers a year ago. Just one last sticker left!

This sticker is a pain in the ass :

1. It has been on the car for 18 years.

2. It tears off in small pieces.

3. The gum stains were extremely hard to remove. I tried scraping them off but they just wouldn’t come off completely.

I read all sorts of articles advising on the use of hair dryers to heat up the stickers (risk damaging the car paint), WD40, nail polish remover, acetone and stuff like that. The hardware store was closed by the time I got home. I decided to use :

1. A plastic ruler.

2. A piece of foam eraser (the ones used to erase pencil markings).

Pilot eraser and plastic ruler.

Pilot eraser and plastic ruler.

Step 1 : Using the edge of the plastic ruler, scrape the edge of sticker lightly but rapidly. Try to get as much sticker build-up as possible.

Step 2 : Whenever you are able to get a grip on the edge of the sticker, pull it off gently. Try to get as much of the sticker off at one go.

Repeat steps 1 and 2 until all of the sticker is gone, leaving behind the gum stains. Forget about scraping the stickers off, it’ll be much faster peeling them off.

Step 3 : Using the eraser, rub as hard as you can on the ugly gum stains. I was surprised at how easily they came off.

The Honda Civic sticker is gone. No more gum stains as well.

It really does turn water into red wine! I got myself pissed drunk every night. Better put it away before it becomes a health hazard.
