Tribute to Boo
Boo, the Roborovski hamster.
Jessie had a Roborovski hamster named Boo. This was one of the few Roborovski hamsters which allowed strangers to cuddle it. The rest would just scamper around, biting and chewing at anything they came into close contact with. Jessie and her mum cleaned the cage, spending almost an hour playing with Boo everyday for 2 1/2 years.
After a battle with a tumor growing around its throat, Boo would only sleep when it was cuddled. When Jessie released Boo into its cage, it would insist on crawling back out into Jessie’s palms and falling asleep. Those were the last few nights before a tumor in the stomach took its life.
Today, we rushed the hamster to the Mount Pleasant Animal Hospital. It was barely breathing and in a lot of pain during the journey. The vet told us that the hamster would not last till the end of the day. We could either euthanize Boo, or leave Boo to die.
Wiping away the tears, Jessie gathered enough courage to sign the form, allowing Boo to be euthanized.
That was the bravest thing Jessie ever did. It was the right thing to do and Boo would be so proud of her.
I’m happy that Boo is in a better place right now, away from all the pain and suffering.

So sad. I’ll never take Grassland buses again.
In fact, it’s risky to take coaches at night.
